Audio Trails
Audio guides by citizens for citizens – an award-winning project by the Bavarian Adult Education Association (bvv) and Bavarian Broadcasting.
What are the “Hörpfade”?
The “Hörpfade” (Audio Trails) are audio guides created by citizens about their home regions. They take a different perspective from tourist boards – visiting community life, local characters and hidden stories that locals know best.
The project started in 2011 in Oberhaching, Upper Bavaria. Today more than 400 audios are published in the BayernHistoryApp, covering over 50 towns and regions across Bavaria, with selected pieces from Austria.
Two notable trails emerged from a dialogue project between Dachau (Bavaria) and Mauthausen-Gusen-St. Georgen (Austria), exploring how the National Socialist past continues to shape everyday life today.
Award
In 2014 the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) honoured the project with the Award for Innovation in Adult Education.
